COVID-19 Remodeling trends for 2021

COVID-19 Remodeling trends for 2021

Remodleing.net posted an article by Mary Salmonsen on December 4th, 2020, which suggested COVID-19 will strongly influence upcoming design trends. Mary’s article was based upon a report courtesy of the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

The report from NKBA was a comprehensive survey of responses from kitchen and bathroom remodeling contractors. The report outlined the changes that the COVID pandemic has prompted in kitchen and bath design going into 2021.

The NKBA report states that there is expected to shift to more organic materials and contemporary look over the next three years as far as style for the future of kitchen and bath remodeling. Traditional kitchens are also still expected to be popular as they have now for many decades.

One thing that stands out for us with this article is that the kitchen, which has always been the heart of the home, will remain so and will most likely grow in size as it has grown in responsibility and tasks with more of us at home, spending more time in the kitchen.

We here at Element Cabinet Design anticipate the use of more luxury home appliances with disinfectant cycles, granite countertops, which help reduce the amount of bacteria on the surface, and the use of more stainless steel as it is easy to wipe down and disinfect.

After reading this article, one thing is for sure. Kitchen and bathroom remodeling trends are about to change in the upcoming year.
